 Product Description

Designed for the VA Chassis (2015-2018) Subaru WRX and STi Sedans, the Nameless Performance AxleBack Exhaust is a direct factory fit to the OEM midpipe at the Y. Removing the two factory 13.5lb restrictive baffled mufflers in lieu of a pair of mandrel bent, TIG welded, T304 stainless steel pipes and configurable tailpipe tip style, this system is easily configurable to your desired look and sound level.

Factory fit laser cut flanges and 2″ dual piping has equivalent flow characteristics of a 3" single straight pipe, providing excellent breathing characteristics for high end horsepower and generating an increase in low end torque (roughly 10hp/11ft lb at the wheels for this and the other muffled axleback options we offer).

Fits 2015-2018 WRX & STi Sedans with OEM or OEM fitment (Nameless Performance) midpipe, not compatible with the STI (SPT) dealer installed midpipe.

Each axleback comes with a full hardware kit for installation.

Configuration Options:

  • Muffler Delete: The loudest option. Removes the mufflers entirely. This is a 10 on a scale where stock = 0
  • 4" Mufflers: Similar to the deletes, but with the edge taken off. This is a 7 on a scale where stock = 0
  • 5" Mufflers: Our most quiet option. Perfect for those looking for a subtle upgrade. This is a 5 on a scale where stock = 0

  • 3" Quad Staggered Double Wall: These are T304 stainless, double wall polished tips that fit perfectly into the cutout in the rear valence of the vehicle. 10 Degree Angle Cut with staggered arrangement (inboard tips stick out 1/2" further than outboard tips). 3″ diameter per tip, very close to an OEM look
  • 3" Neochrome Quad Staggered Double Wall: These blue flame/burnt tips fit perfectly into the cutout in the rear valence of the vehicle. 3" tip with a 10 Degree Angle Cut with staggered arrangement (inboard tips stick out 1/2″ further than outboard tips). These tips are only available with the Muffler Delete.
  • 3.5" Quad Staggered Single Wall: Single Wall Quad Tips in 3.5" diameter w/ 20 degree angle cut with a 1/2" staggered arrangement.
  • 3.5" Quad Non-Staggered Single Wall: Same as above but non-staggered.

Recommended Add-Ons:

Urethane Exhaust Hanger Bushings

Our urethane bushings hold your exhaust in place better that the factory rubber bushings and are highly recommended if you race your car or enjoy spirited driving. During hard cornering the exhaust "wags" left to right which sometimes causes the tips to touch the bumper. When this happens there is a chance your bumper can be damaged. The best way to avoid this is to use our urethane exhaust bushings to hold the exhaust in place.

  • 2 Bushings: Replace the two bushings at the rear of the car closest to the bumper. Recommend for those who either drive hard on the street or race occasionally at the track.

  • 4 Bushings: Replace all 4 rubber bushings on the axleback portion of the exhaust. Recommended for people who race their cars often.

  • 5 Bushings: Replace all 5 of the factory rubber bushings from the midpipe back. Recommended for those who are hard core autocrossers or circuit racers.

  1. Perfect volume, nice tone, great quality

Got the 4" mufflers and 3" tips. Very nicely made, looks great, can see why they are more expensive than other options. Makes the wrx sound much better, now it actually sounds like a performance car. Way more engaging to drive. Volume level is perfect, just a nice subtle tone when cruising, and it shouts when you stomp on it. Overall very happy. Expensive with my exchange rate though.

  2. Skeptical at first. Couldn't be happier!

I seriously....and I mean seriously read through EVERY single review for the nameless axle back muffler delete. I was torn between the 5in muffler and the delete. So happy I ordered the delete. Yes it is loud but only loud when you want it to be. It has the absolute perfect tone for my STI. Highway drone is there but very very minimal. Sounds awesome around town. I loved driving my STI before the muffler delete.....Now I LOVE driving it. I would recommend this setup to anyone with an STI whom is looking for a true boxer motor sound. I also went with the 4in tailpipe. They look mean and definitely fill in the gaps.

  3. Best but exhaust tips are a little too small

The neochrome axle back was my first mod to my 2018 sti and it made a huge difference in sound compared to stock. It was louder than I expected. I always want my car louder so my next step is to get the mid pipe. Just like the headline says, the 3 inch tips look just like the stock tips, they are too small. In my opinion, nameless should make the nechrome available for 3.5 inch and 4 inch tips because bigger tips look nicer on the car + the nechrome would just make it look amazing. Besides all that, the axle back from nameless is perfect for a cheap and easy mod.

  4. Great sound

High quality , nice welds, perfect fit, easy install. Very nice sound, no regrets going with the 5 inch mufflers. The 4 inch tips fit perfectly too, still a nice clearance all around the rear cutouts.

  5. Excellent! No Regrets

I got the 4" tips with the muffler delete set up.
Taking the OEM mufflers off was a pain, as has been stated before and probably on every YouTube install video you've seen. Use WD-40 for the nuts and bolts as well as for the old hangers. I definitely recommend replacing them with new urethane ones (I replaced all 4 just for peace of mind). One thing that was a problem (and no fault to Nameless, it was my own fault) was that I was looking for an OEM gasket that looked similar to the new gaskets (shaped like the flanges). It actually looks like a metal ring inside the tips of the midpipe. Since I didn't know what I was looking for, I assumed somehow they forgot to put them on at the factory and I ended up putting the new gaskets over the old ones and driving around for a bit until I learned that there actually was a gasket in there. Stupid on me for not being more diligent in my research, but in my defense my package did not come with instructions and I figured I had seen enough install videos to know the gist of what to do. End result is a slight leak on the driver side split of the midpipe to axelback. I'll probably end up buying two new gaskets or perhaps just waiting until I eventually purchase the Nameless midpipe and do it all at once.
Regardless, it sounds absolutely amazing and on cold starts you won't be able to wipe the smile off your face. I still can't.
It should also be noted that it seems the sound has begun to tone down, although I wonder if maybe that's mental due to me becoming accustomed to the volume now.
Don't do the mufflers, just do the muffler delete!

  6. Buy them!

Single wall, 3.5" Muffler delete for 17 WRX. So easy to install, I have never done anything to a car except add oil, wipers, and washer fluid. So if I can install them, anyone can. They forgot to include instructions, and since I watched so many youtube videos looking up reviews, it was no problem. the 3.5 inch tips look nice too, I think thats the perfect size.

And that sound...truly amazing. Deep burbling sound at idle, quite loud when you step on it, but not a horrible drone, very nice sound. Lots of pops when up shifting. But when you drive easy and want to be stealth, they are quiet. Ive had them for almost 2 days and I cant stop smiling and laughing every time I drop it down, floor it, shift, and hear all those sweet sweet exhaust pops.

  7. Worth The Wait!!

    Posted by on

I researched most options available for the 2015+ STi axle-back both in style and vendor. I was hesitant about the wait. I called prior to making the purchase and was given an estimated time line from production to delivery. It was almost exact to the day. Im sure Nameless gets multiple calls daily asking the same thing but they answered my call as if I was the only one to ask. Opened and installed my order within an hour. The quality is better than what I expected, the sound is amazing (muffler delete) and the 4 inch tips fill the exhaust cutout perfectly. Absolutely no drone and even a little pop when downshifting from 4th to 3rd. When you have a high quality product and awesome customer service you gain a customer for life. Would purchase over and over again. Thank you!

  8. Excellent

The product so far seems to be functions great, not obnoxiously loud but sufficient increase in aggressiveness. My only complaint is that it took over a month to receive. I knew it had along lead time however it was the only downside.
