A brief history of chassis bracing and why most products are sub-optimal: Over the years we have developed a number of chassis, suspension and cage solutions across a variety of racing disciplines from Stage Rally to Formula Drift. In that time, we have always been perplexed as to the market offerings to produce similar chassis rigidity for the average street car. Most designs for chassis bracing either have the potential to have fitment issues, or they have a mounting solution that provides ample tolerance for easy fit, but relies solely on the friction between the head of the fastener and the mounting plate to achieve the goal of the product. Another way that manufacturers achieve fitment tolerance is to make adjustable braces and bars, thereby allowing more tolerance for the end user to adjust for proper fitment across large distances. Claims that these systems are able to be adjusted or 'tensioned' into place belie the reality that these parts lack rigidity are the equivalent of automotive jewelry which provide nowhere near the structural improvement of their appearance.
In stark contrast to these options, we have engineered a chassis bracing design solution that achieves the rigidity of a single piece weldment while providing the tolerance necessary for easy fit and achieving a locked-in-place mounting solution that is rock solid. The means by which we have achieved this solution is a simple but effective patent pending design. We start with a CNC machined conical cup at each of the mounting points of the bar, and develop a stitch welded twin tube solution with optimal routing through the factory underhood components. We then use CNC machined T301 Stainless Steel conical nuts to mount the conical cups to the strut top studs. As they are tightened down, they center the weldment perfectly on the factory studs and achieve a zero deflection mounting solution. Compared side by side to a three piece bar that is tightened to manufacturer specs, our bar can lift the front end of the car off the ground, the three piece bar can be visibly deflected by hand.
The benefits of adding our front strut tower chassis brace to your vehicle are numerous. Minimzing chassis deflection improves tire contact patch and promotes optimal wheel alignment under aggressive cornering while also improving handling characteristics under heavy acceleration and braking. Customers running these bars also have given us incredible feedback, noting improvements in turn-in under heavy cornering as well as specifically improved driver feedback and handling when transitioning from left to right corners on tightly spaced winding roads. Our testing of these bars on a variety of chassis and vehicle models also made it clear that not only does upper strut mounting deflection occur in the field in almost all vehicles, but in many vehicles, the chassis flex masks factory suspension misalignment. For this reason, we highly recommend taking the time to have a professional alignment shop align your car if that has never been done since the vehicle was new. The specific instances in which this became evident on vehicles we tested were when factory camber and toe settings were substantially different from one side of the vehicle to the other.
