Description

Small Component. Massive Responsibility.
Weighing in at just a fraction of a pound, the ACT Clutch Pilot Bearing (PB1004) is arguably the most critical "while you're in there" replacement part in your entire drivetrain. Pressed directly into the center flange of your crankshaft (or flywheel, depending on the setup), the pilot bearing is responsible for guiding and supporting the very tip of your transmission's input shaft. When you depress the clutch pedal to shift gears, this tiny bearing allows the input shaft and crankshaft to spin at completely different speeds smoothly.

Premium Rubber-Sealed Protection
A failing factory pilot bearing will quickly introduce dry, metal-on-metal screeching, clutch drag, and excessive input shaft vibration—which can systematically destroy your transmission’s front main bearing and syncros. ACT’s premium replacement features a high-grade steel ball-bearing construction shielded by a protective rubber lip seal. This advanced seal locks critical high-temperature grease inside the race while aggressively blocking out destructive clutch dust and road grime. Whether you're dropping in a heavy-duty ACT SB10-HDSS or replacing an old factory unit, never risk reusing a worn pilot bearing.

  • Durable Ball Bearing Layout: Smooth rolling elements provide superior radical load absorption compared to old-school brass bushings.
  • Double-Lip Sealed Integrity: Locks lubrication in place to drastically extend service life under grueling track conditions.
  • Precise Micron Tolerances: Machined perfectly to strict OE specifications for an effortless press-fit inside the crank snout.
  • Ultra-Universal Crossover: The exact matching specification used across multiple generations of high-performance import platforms.

The Nameless "Installation" Pro-Tip:

The Golden Rules of Pilot Bearing Swaps:

1. The Removal Secret: Getting the old bearing out of the crank snout can be a nightmare without the right tool. Rent a specialized blind-hole slide hammer puller from your local auto parts store. If you resort to the old DIY "grease and clutch alignment tool hydraulic method" (where you pack the cavity with grease or wet bread and hammer the alignment tool in to force the bearing out), make absolutely sure you wipe down the entire area thoroughly with brake cleaner afterward. You do not want stray grease atomizing or flinging onto your new clutch disc face!

2. Seating the New Bearing: When driving the fresh PB1004 into place, never hammer directly onto the center race or the rubber dust seal. Use a dedicated socket that perfectly matches the outer diameter edge of the steel bearing. Tap it in slowly and perfectly square until it fully bottoms out in the bore. If you slip and crush the rubber seal face, discard it and get a new one—a ruptured seal will spit out its grease within months!
