Description

The Absolute Cure for Pull-Type Clutch Separation
If you drive a manual-transmission Subaru STI, an early 2.0L WRX, or an Evolution VIII/IX/X, you are likely familiar with the unique quirks of a pull-type clutch system. In a standard factory setup, the release bearing is locked into the pressure plate by a two-piece wire snap ring and wedge collar. Under aggressive track abuse or fast high-RPM shifts, that factory wire ring is notorious for twisting, spreading, or completely popping out of place. When it fails, your clutch pedal drops straight to the floor, leaving you stranded with zero warning. The ACT Patented Monoloc Collar (884006P) is the permanent solution to this factory design flaw.

One-Piece Forged Strength
Instead of relying on two separate pieces that wiggle and warp, ACT engineered the Monoloc as a rigid, one-piece direct replacement carved out of hardened chromoly steel. Featuring a carefully calculated, segment-retaining spring ring, the Monoloc provides a perfectly uniform clamping load across your entire throwout bearing and pressure plate diaphragm fingers. This ensures your release mechanism stays flawlessly aligned, regardless of driver influence or heavy vehicle modifications.

  • Total Shift Confidence: Permanently eliminates the risk of your throwout bearing separating from the pressure plate during fast shifts.
  • Hardened Chromoly Construction: Built out of premium heat-treated chrome-moly steel for an extensive improvement in release mechanism longevity.
  • Precision Spring Tension: Segmented retaining ring geometry is calculated down to the micron to provide flawless centering and quick release behavior.
  • Universal Component Upgrade: Can be used alongside any standard pull-type factory-style clutch setup, making it the premier "while you're in there" transmission modification.

The Nameless "Installation" Pro-Tip:

The Evo X Exception: If you are stocking this for Mitsubishi clients, keep this critical caveat visible on your site. The factory Evolution X clutch utilizes a flat snap-ring design. The 884006P Monoloc collar will only fit Evo X models if they have upgraded to an aftermarket ACT clutch kit (or another performance assembly using a crimp-style center hub configuration). If they are looking to upgrade a stock factory-style clutch structure on an Evo X, they need ACT part number 884007P instead!

Pre-Assembly Test: Before you physically bolt the transmission casing back onto the engine block, perform a workbench test. Take your replacement throwout bearing (such as the ACT RB601) and test-lock it directly into the newly installed Monoloc collar on the pressure plate. You should hear a distinct, reassuring, metallic snap. This lets you visually confirm that the segmented ring is expanding and seating uniformly before everything is hidden away inside the bellhousing. Once verified, pop it back out by prying gently with two flathead screwdrivers, slide the bearing back onto the transmission's input sleeve snout, and proceed with standard transmission assembly.
