Unlike basic catch cans that use simple mesh baffles and require constant manual draining, the IAG V3 AOS is a permanent, maintenance-free system. Its high-volume cast aluminum body uses a multi-stage swirl pot layout to spin oil out of the crankcase air stream using centrifugal force. The separated oil then drains safely back into your oil pan. To prevent cold-weather moisture buildup and the dreaded "milky sludge" common in winter climates, IAG routes engine coolant directly through the base of the separator body. This keeps the unit at engine operating temperature, completely eliminating condensation and freezing risks during cold-weather trips.

Coolant Bleeding & Hose Slope Are Everything:
1. Overlanding & Cold-Weather Prep: If you use your Outback XT or Wilderness for winter trips, camping, or off-grid adventures, double-check your coolant hose connections during install. Tapping into the factory heater lines ensures the AOS body warms up as quickly as the engine, preventing frost from forming in the breather ports during freezing morning cold starts.
2. Keep the Drain Line Sloped: When routing the bottom oil return hose back to the crankcase port, make sure it flows on a continuous downward incline without any low-hanging "S" curves. Liquid oil relies entirely on gravity to drain back into the pan—a sagging line will hold oil and back up the separator body over time.
3. Burp the Cooling System: Because this kit taps into your factory heater lines to warm the AOS body, you will introduce air pockets into the cooling system during install. Always fill and thoroughly burp your cooling system using a no-spill coolant funnel after installation. Trapped air in the FA24 cooling system can cause erratic idle temps or improper heater core operation!
